The Brown Vine Snake, Oxybelis aeneus , was until recently considered a single species, distributed from southern Arizona through the Neotropics into southeastern Brazil. However, newly conducted research restructured species with substantial taxonomic revision, recognizing five additional taxa (i.e. O. koehleri microphthalmus potosiensis rutherfordi vittatus ) in this complex. This revision focused on populations North America, Central and northern South America while neglecting portion of its distribution. Here, we examine history complex use it along specimen data to resurrect acuminatus Finally, describe new Peruvian Amazon based morphological characters. work increases diversity eight, expect further biodiversity discoveries continued exploration New World vine snakes.

A new species of Oxybelis is described from Isla de Roatán, Honduras. A new species of blunt-headed vine snake (Colubridae, Imantodes) from the Chocó region of Ecuador

We describe a new species of Imantodes from the Chocó region of northwestern Ecuador. The new species differs most significantly from all other congeners in lacking a loreal scale. We analyze the phylogenetic relationships among species of Imantodes based on two mitochondrial genes, and postulate that the new species and Imantodes lentiferus are sister taxa. A key to the species of Imantodes fr...
